Free Agent Bidding Open

Post by brza37 on Sun Nov 27, 2011 8:12 pm

Free Agent Bidding is now open. It will run till Monday at 8pm GMT. At that time bidding will close and free agents will go to the highest bidder.

The salary cap has been raised to $135 million to offset the costs of the rookie class which was much larger than originally anticipated (each draft class was between $10-13 million). At this point there are still 5 team sover the cap.

By Tuesday 8pm GMT all teams must be back under the salary cap and have the required roster size of 50-55 players.

Before playing any games make sure you PM me to get approval for your teams salary cap and roster size. Games can be played anytime after free agency closes and after you've gotten approval.

After the free agent bidding period is over then free agency will go back to the first come first serve basis.

What about the players that have to be dropped by the teams that are over the cap? e.g. the giants are way over the cap ans some significant players might drop to the fa pool?
I mean the fa ends monday at 8 but the cap management must be completed at tuesday?

Yeah I didn't think about that. The thing is teams need to somehow drop expensive players to get under the cap then also be able to sign cheap players to fill the roster. If there was a waiver period in LM it would be alot easier because we could do both at the same time. I also need to fill some CPU rosters which I can't do during the bidding period.

I think its too late to change the rule for this year since I don't know whether the Giants, Ravens, Steelers, Panthers and Pats will be able to make their cuts before the FA bidding deadline. But I think in the future it makes sense to first force teams to get under the cap on day 1, end FA bidding day 2 and get the roster size right on or before day 3. I will get in touch with the teams over the cap to try and make their cuts as soon as possible and before FA bidding ends though.

No, the salary cap is $135 million. I only anticipated the rookie class to cost about $5mill per team thats why I originally planned a cap of $125 mill. After the rookie contracts were assigned I saw that most teams paid between $10-13 million per class. In order to compensate that and be fair to all I raised the cap to $135 million for next year.
Also researched a bit and most reports are expecting a real cap between 125-135 million in the NFL next year.

So the cap is $135 million and this is also represented in LM since last night around 8pm already.

Rucker is on sale for $3.50 for a limited time only.

OK - seems to be a prob with LM (at least for me). It is not showing my bids but if i click on the player it shows my bid at the top - but it isn't registered on my 'FA targets' either.

Thats why i queried the cap because i wasn't being allowed to bid but had enough cap space @ 135 mill.

I'll try again later.

Rucker - $2.50 and we have a deal (and i'll throw in Hakeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem)

hm ok,

totally fair for this year.
But I guess we need to have an auction on the forum or something in order to assign the new fa from the cap management from the teams that run manage the cap as that snyder dude from the redskins...

Sorry limited time offer is over. On LM alot of times you have to refresh the page before it shows anything correctly. I see you are $8mill under now. You need to sign 12 players though to get back up to the roster minimum tomorrow.

Oh and the limited time offer for Rucker has ended.

The other side of the coin is that some teams are trying to trade to get under the cap. Like the Pats for example, he's trying to trade Haynesworth and get something for him but while Rogers is still available in FA bidding he probably won't get any offers. If someone loses out on a bidding war for Rogers then Haynesworth has some value.
