Its KILLING me and I'm tempted to just take a huge cap penalty one year to free myself of the high salary for the next few years...

I've also got some poisonous deals for guys like Mark Anderson and Kyle Moore (DEs) who I'd get like 3.5 mil cap penalty while only saving 1mil on the cap this year for cutting... If I trade them (both very useable) for 6th and 7th round picks do I save myself the cap penalty?

same with my TE Carlson - good player, but i dont need him. when i cut him i will get a penaltyof 3,4million

Scouse is correct, trading and cutting a player has the same effect. The penalty for releasing someone is the same you will incur for trading them. The penalty is the bonus portion of the players contract so if for example a player has a 4 year contract with 8m in bonus then that is 2m bonus per season so cutting him with 3 years remaining will incur a 6m penalty, 2 years 4m penalty and so on. Look at the players contract because sometimes it is worth hanging onto the player for 1 more year to save 1 years bonus from the penalty if they have a large bonus but at the end of the day if you simply must get rid of them then the only thing to do is to take the short term pain for the long term gain.

We advanced to stage 4. Mike Wallace is still up for grabs.

man... Fitzpatrick is gonna fuck me over for ever then.. His contract is like entirely guaranteed and his cap hit will only go up every year...

I'm hoping he has all guaranteed money paid in this year then hes easy to cut next season because I have no use for an average accuracy noodle arm QB.

WOW.

My team prestige went from A- to C-...

Will that ruin my chance to sign free agents now?

My question is (about any FA) - if there is a lot of interest in a player will he wait till the last minute of FA to choose?

Just wondered, cuz if not - if someone doesn't take your offer after advancement then you may as well withdraw and use the cash to look elsewhere. Just a thought

Flacco held out for an over the odds contract, which I now regret finalising. Should have dumped him.

After Ray Lewis and B Williams retired in the last phase, Ed Reed has retired in this phase? I did not expect that. Why have player retirements over two phases? Strange. Rebuild time!! :/

3 players have signed with me so far. Bob Sanders and Aaron Curry. I know, studs right? Very Happy

Randy Moss is my big fish for this year but still no signature. Sad

Shit that sucks afro. I thought I was out of the woods once I saw woodson was still on my roster after the first advance. I hope thats it with the retirements and I won't have to hold my breath every advance.

man feel bad for you with Flacco, I don't like him much so I'd let him walk if I was in your position.

Your entire D has been depleted.

Unfortunately Brza they can retire the pre season after the draft too. So don't count your chickens too soon.

You can also increase your offer. I think there are a bunch of factors: money, bonus, years, scheme fit, team prestige, the number of suitors and even the player predictability trait. Its a lot harder to plan around but I think its a lot more interesting than it was in the past.

I don't know what triggers the twitter feed to dime on a team's scouting tendencies but also a nice feature, as long as it doesn't happen to me.

Dang, 15m! If so then you are welcome to him haha! Will be interesting to see how it plays out. whoever wins I'd love to know how much everyone offered so we can see whether there really is any logic being used or whether it simply was the highest bidder.

Def agree with Brza - the FA and scouting + twitter stuff all works really well - will be interesting to see how the 1st couple of rounds go in the draft .......

Agreed, its going to be interesting. I've no idea where guys are going to be taken so it's hard to plan. It's going to be BPA regardless of position for me I think.

I think we should definitely recruit hard for some new owners to fill up spots in the league though?

What happened to all the people that meant I couldn't pick a team but got saddled with the Bills... Would've loved a team like the Bucs... Broncos...
