League Communication

Post by Strikernaut on Wed Apr 30, 2014 9:34 pm

Hey everyone. I'm not sure if you guys use this already. But have you heard of the app groupme? I think it's great and makes contacting one another a whole lot easier. Just a thought.

I was just about to put up a topic about this, but thought i'd search first. As this forum seems rather quiet (may just be due to the time of the year IRL and that we are now in playoffs), I'd imagine GroupMe, or something similar, might allow us all to arrange our matches easier, and also organise practise matches between each other?

I guess we would all have to commit to using it if we went down that route, which is easier said than done i'm sure Laughing

Things are usually the quietest shortly before and during the playoffs as most teams are taken out of contention. Communication starts to jump back up again as the offseason starts though.

I don't have a problem with a new way to communicate but the general problem is getting everyone to use a new app. For the past 3 years we have always used the game scheduling threads to plan games and its worked for the most part. The forum isn't as comfortable as an app but you can set it up so you get a new message on your phone every time there is a new post in a scheduling thread or you get a PM.

But like I said, I'm always open to new ideas. I just think it may be difficult to get everyone on board with a new app and until that happens all games should be planned in the scheduling thread as well.

I thought that may be the case, damn me joining at the quietest moment! I've not been part of a league before and i've only been part of this one 5 mins so i'm happy to use the conventional thread method. As you suggested, the only reason I was thinking of the GroupMe app was it's ease of use when you are mobile.

If I was to suggest any form of change, perhaps we continue to use the forum as an official matchup route, and maybe trial GroupMe once the Pre-Season starts as a general communications tool? Outside of Madden I play a chunk of BF4, and i'm part of a Group Chat for this, and although there are other ways to arrange matches, that instant chat method seems to work very well.

Well if you guys fancy it, i've just registered for GroupMe, and have created a group. If you let me know when you've registered, and what your e-mail address is, I will send you an invite.

Alternatively, I can make it a public group, if you think that would be easier?
